In the world of art, it’s not just about the paintings. It’s about the people who receive them — those who feel something in the work and choose to bring it into their lives. For me, one of the most meaningful connections I had in 2024 was with a woman whose warmth, generosity, and love for her community left a lasting imprint on my creative heart: Julie Kennedy.
Julie isn’t just a neighbour — she’s a thread in the tapestry of my journey. A radiant and giving soul, she embraced my art in the most beautiful ways: not only collecting multiple pieces, but also sharing them as gifts with her family, passing along the magic of colour and emotion to the next generation. That alone would have made my heart full.
But there was more.
Last year, Julie commissioned a painting in honour of a deeply loved friend and neighbour who had passed away. The request was tender — to create something from a photograph, capturing not just likeness, but essence. The ethereal beauty, the presence, the soul of a woman no longer with us in the physical world.
It was one of the most meaningful portraits I’ve had the privilege of creating.
